The Church of the Intercession is regarded as the finest example of Gothic Revival or Neo-Gothic architecture in New York City. Located adjacent to the Trinity Church Cemetery at 155th Street and Broadway, it was consecrated in 1915. The Church of the Intercession was designated a National Landmark in 1966.

The present site of the Church is the third in a series of locations in upper Manhattan to bear the name Intercession. Intercession's architect, Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue, is laid to rest in a wall vault in the north vestry.
